William Afton

Five Nights at Freddy's

William Afton is the co-founder of Fazbear Entertainment, as well as the main antagonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's series. He was directly and indirectly responsible for numerous incidents, deaths and tragedies throughout the series. His role in the franchise's story is pivotal.
Since William Afton is only ever seen in human form in some of the minigames, it's hard to pin down his true appearance. while in the minigames, he is represented as a tall, skinny man with a long neck, with his sprite color ranging from various tones of purple, depending on the minigame. It is worth noting that he may appear purple because he is simply hiding in the shadows.
He is also sometimes depicted wearing a yellow accessory on his chest, presumably a security badge. It isn't until Five Nights at Freddy's 3 that he retained a consistent appearance, undetailed as it may be, though he has expressive eyes and a mouth that conveys his emotional state his mouth also appears to almost always be put int he form of a sadistic smile. It also appears that he has a cleft chin.
Another instance in which William shows more detail than his other appearances is during the SAVETHEM Death Minigame, in which he has glowing, white eyes, a yellow object on his chest which resembles a badge, and either holds a purple object, which is speculated to be a weapon or tool, or extends his hand in a beckoning pose.
It's heavily implied that he resembles his novel counterpart making it very possible that he is middle-aged with pale skin, dark brown messy hair, grey eyes and a somewhat wrinkly face.
Springtrap is William's reanimated corpse sealed in a heavily damaged Spring Bonnie animatronic/springlock suit,This version first appeared in Five Nights at Freddy's 3.
The suit is a drab olive color, with darker colors on his stomach and the insides of his ears. A great portion of his right ear is missing, with a single red wire sticking out of the stump. Springtrap's entire body is torn and tattered, with gaping holes bearing exposed wires and caging throughout, making him appear much more macabre-looking than any of the other animatronics from any previous installments in the series. His green/brown/black nose has an irregular squarish shape due to deterioration. While both of Springtrap's hands and feet are attached and generally intact, his legs are entirely stripped from the mid-shin down, fully exposing the endoskeleton wiring and metal. Several of his finger joints from each hand are missing their suit overlays. The middle and little fingers of Springtrap's right hand are notably missing their fingertips. A single black button can be seen on the middle of his chest. If one looks closely at the large hole in Springtrap's chest (which is located under his button), there are multiple red streaks, presumably remnants of William Afton's corpse.
Springtrap's endoskeleton feet appear wedge-shaped, with each sporting five toes. As of the 8th of October, 2016, images of an early Springtrap model show his visible endoskeleton torso in the shape of an upside-down triangle. It has six "ribs", which almost act like actual animal ones. The torso also has several of Afton's blood-vessels drooping on each side.
Both of Springtrap's eyes are properly set inside of his head, and appear to be pale gray in color. The eyes themselves are larger, more closely resembling those of an animatronic rather than those of a human, as the corpse contained inside Springtrap is that of an animatronic endoskeleton (with Afton's mummified head (and what remains of its internal organs), gastrointestinal tract, and blood-vessels his only remains). However, the eyes are also deteriorated and printed with barely-visible blood-vessels, causing them to appear eerily-human. Each iris is black and grayish-green in color, with glowing white pupils.
Springtrap has a wide, permanent grin, as the material surrounding his teeth has deteriorated. In a paranormal manner, his jaw can be seen moving (while Afton's mouth cannot move) on occasions, such as during his second jumpscare, on CAM 15, his first rare-boot, along with Scott Cawthon's "Thank You!" image.
Close examination of Springtrap and the rare-boot images depicting him show that there appears to be human remains within the suit. When viewing the torso and other exposed sections of the endoskeleton, there are decayed chunks of Afton's gastrointestinal tract, while his neck is covered with blood-vessels. Rare screens reveal William's mummified head. It is reddish-pink in color, with its orbits larger than the eyes themselves. Its mouth always hangs open, with crooked teeth and what appears to be several more blood-vessels. The jaw and teeth of the head can be briefly seen during his second jumpscare, and can also be seen when he's on CAM 15. The corpse's head can also be seen clearly from Springtrap's early model screenshot. It is revealed in the end-of-night minigames (after completing Night 5) that these are William Afton's remains, after he was killed by the springlocks within the suit. From Springtrap's render-modelling screenshot, William's corpse doesn't appear to have any ears at all, though, this may be due to the fact that they would be covered by the animatronic head regardless.
As seen in Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted, Springtrap also walks and crawls with a limp. The arm joints also appear to be loose, though this may simply be due to the deteriorated condition of the original suit. Help Wanted also alters his general design, the suit itself being a lighter color. The biggest change between the Help Wanted model and the original is Springtrap's corpse. The eyes are now bright green with black pupils, looking more animatronic than human this time. While the corpse's head is a dark purple in color, the rest of the flesh on the body is a dark brown. Parts of the flesh are missing, such as the strands of flesh on the lower legs, or the flesh that goes from the torso to the pelvis. His endoskeleton is rustier, and seems slightly less detailed.
Springtrap's design in Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery is a lot closer to the Five Nights at Freddy's 3 design, with some very slightly different textures from his original look. The biggest difference is the corpse mouth, which stretches and unhinges alongside the jaw now. Like most other Special Delivery animatronics, the more damage Springtrap takes, the more broken he is, gaining more dark burn and dirt marks over time.
William Afton returned once again in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator with a new design, dubbed Scraptrap by fans. While he does retain some key physical details to the previous design, there are some major differences. Unlike the previous design where his interior was mostly machinery, it is now almost entirely organic, and includes his human skeleton as well as bits of flesh, with five bony fingers as his right hand. There are more torn patches in his suit with multiple metal-wires, and he has lost his left forearm, half his left ear, and the rest of his right ear. His feet now have fabric over them, with three large, round toes on each foot.
His eyes no longer glow, and look less human. They instead appear to be large metallic balls with a small dent each (which appear to be his pupils).
The mask also has significant differences, with much larger eye sockets, a black nose, a square muzzle, a singular pair of buck teeth at the top row and small sharp needle-like teeth at the bottom. Afton's mummified head is clean of blood, now with ears, thicker lips, rigged teeth and a dimple. The texture of the skin appears to be bone, showing that his corpse has decayed the the point where his skeleton is exposed.
Initially, William's story was mostly told via silent actions within retro-graphics, or by reading between the lines throughout the games.
William Afton is the textbook definition of evil. He is the murderer of the five children that sparked the downfall of Fazbear Entertainment, and started the tragic chain of events that leads players through the series. It's implied William's true motive is to gain immortality and conquer death. Judging by his actions and appearance within the games, William is cruel, cold-blooded and methodical, clearly feeling no remorse for his actions, as he was malicious enough to murder his closest friend Henry's daughter Charlotte showing that Afton is more than willing to hurt his own friends.
As shown in every minigame, he is seen in he always smiles in a unhinged manner during his killings, showing that William is sadistic and takes joy, pleasure and pride in killing people. The Pizza Party minigame in Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted shows this in more detail as it appears to be a recreation of one of Afton's murders. "William" can be seen dancing gleefully after murdering the victim. One of William's voicelines in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator suggest that he is opportunistic, and will murder children regardless of the risks.
Heard in the opening cutscene of Sister Location, William shows a rather calm and neutral personality likely to hide his true intentions and psychotic mindset, showing that he is a manipulator and somewhat theatrical and the fact that he created the Funtime Animatronics which are very advanced and technological shows that he has a genius level intellect and a talent for robotics.
His voice lines in Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery indicate that he is arrogant, boastful, and overconfident in his way of thinking and even indicates he wants his victims to to fear and respect him. This is in contrast to his subtle, poetic and calculated voice. His mannerisms are incredibly flamboyant and unhinged. It seems that William's hubris grew larger as he became more experienced as a killer, which explains his behavior in Five Nights at Freddy's 3 and Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator.
It's also implied that in his Springtrap form, his arrogance is rooted in a belief that he is superior to regular humans beings in his new state.
It is heavily suggested that William is driven by an iron will to live no matter the cost and has a intense fear of dying, which pushed him to cheat death and survive even the most deadly situations time and time again. He showcases this by confidently stating "I always come back".
Despite his cruel nature, it is implied that he at least cared and loved his daughter Elizabeth, as he warned her not to go near Circus Baby, knowing he programmed the animatronic to be homicidal, and it's suggested that he made Baby as a symbol of his affection to his daughter. He even orders his son Michael to free Elizabeth's soul from Circus Baby's Entertainment and Rental. This could indicate that she was the only person William cared about. It is also indicated in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator that Afton wanted Elizabeth to follow in his footsteps and become a killer as well.
However, William doesn't seem to care about his son Michael, seeing as William has sent him on a suicide mission to rescue Elizabeth's soul, which ended up in Michael's gruesome death and reanimation as a rotting corpse, implying William is willing to kill his own family if they are in his way.
